Creating a new corporate identity for Midatech

Brief

MidatechMidatech is a nanotechnology company developing self-assembling nanoparticles for therapeutic purposes. At this stage in the Company's development, it is looking to raise its corporate profile, highlight its new manufacturing facility and continue to develop commercial collaborations.

Northbank worked with Midatech's senior management to create and develop a new corporate identity that reflected the Company's potential and offerings, and those of its portfolio companies.

Objectives

The technology is fairly complex and the potential for its nanoparticles are vast, thus the challenge was to copywrite text and design animations and a brand that could convey the technology and potential of the Midatech Group, and its subsidiaries.

  • Create and present an image of Midatech as a professional and successful company and global leader in the design, synthesis and manufacture of biocompatible nanoparticles
  • Develop the brand theme and personality to be used across all corporate materials
  • Raise awareness around the applications of nanoparticles and Midatech as a leading player
  • Raise awareness of the Company and its projects with its key audiences, in particular to present the Company as an attractive partner for in licensing and financing
  • Convey the technology in a simple and accessible way

Method

  • Create an integrated suite of corporate and marketing materials including website, folders and fact sheets, corporate style guide and stationery set (including letter heads, continuation sheets, compliment slips and business cards)
  • Developing a unified brand theme and personality with consistent visual approach to be used across all corporate and marketing materials
  • Develop suggestions for subsidiary themes
  • Developing a web based animation to represent nanoparticle self assembly and mechanism of action in the body

Results

  • The identity was rolled out across all the Midatech corporate materials, including fact sheets, website (copywritten by Northbank), stationery, folders and style guides
  • The Midatech Biogune brand image was used to construct materials for a specialist exhibition booth at BIO Boston 2007 (Pop up stand, roll up banner, video, folders and press release)
  • The website was very well received, and this co-ordinated with the announcement of the opening of Midatech Biogune at BIO 2007, resulted in a large increase in traffic to the Midatech website
