Oxford BioMedica’s annual report
Brief
Oxford BioMedica is a publicly listed biopharmaceutical company (LSE: OXB) specialising in the development of novel gene-based therapeutics with a focus on oncology and neurotherapy. Northbank was commissioned in 2005 to create the company’s 2004 annual report, having previously designed the 2003 report. Northbank was briefed to produce a more abstract and modern design, whilst building on the existing Oxford BioMedica brand.
Objectives
To effectively communicate 2004 performance including corporate and product milestones achieved |
To convey the key messages in a distinctive, appropriate, and memorable way |
To develop a unique and creative report design, which would set the company apart from its competition |
To build on the existing Oxford BioMedica brand |
Method
The design concept utilised an abstract approach instead of featuring corporate or scientific imagery to demonstrate the company’s maturity and brand strength |
Various themes were developed with an emphasis on human healthcare using illustrations and photography based on different abstract interpretations of key messages |
Northbank progressed with a black and white photographic theme using striking imagery to illustrate the company’s key messages and highlighting its progress to date |
This abstract theme chosen utilised black and white photography of close-up shots of the human body to depict an overall human healthcare theme. The visuals were chosen as abstract representations of the key messages including the focus on oncology and neurotherapy; partnership discussion advancement; and intellectual property and technology licensing |
The photographs were integrated with elements of the corporate brand including the established colour palette to produce a bold and mature image |
