Bringing virtual rats to life
Simcyp is a research based company providing predictive pharmacokinetic products and consultancy services. Having developed simulators to test the effects of new drugs on adults and children, Simcyp were keen to make a splash about their virtual rat simulator, which can be used by researchers to determine what effects a drug may have on a rat. This has a number of advantages for researchers, and while cannot replace animal testing entirely, could be used to help researchers refine animal experiments, reducing the numbers of animals used.
Objectives
- Publicise the effectiveness of Simcyp’s rat simulator and encourage increased uptake from researchers
- Highlight the innovative science behind Simcyp’s simulators
Our Approach
- A release was drafted to announce the launch of the simulator. After distribution, extensive media outreach was conducted to national business and health and science and life sciences trade media
Results
- Coverage achieved following the announcement included the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, BioCentury, Scrip and Reuters
January 2009
