GE IN Cell Image Competition

The annual IN Cell Image Competition has, once again, brought to light some beautiful images generated by scientists from around the world; all of the images have been produced using GE Healthcare’s IN Cell Analyzer, a high content analysis microscopy system. College Hill devised an integrated marketing and PR programme to drive voters to the website and maximise global coverage.

This year’s competition saw over 80 beautiful images covering a wide spectrum of pathologies including cancer, neurology, cardiology, drug development, diabetes, obesity, immunology and dermatology: used by scientists for both primary research and drug discovery. An expert scientific panel chose 30 short listed entries, which then went to a public vote; delegates at the High-Content Analysis conference in San Francisco also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite image.

College Hill secured a sponsorship deal for GE Healthcare with top trade publication, BioTechniques; this comprised an emailer blast, eNewletter coverage and the use of one of the winning images for the front cover of a forthcoming issue of the publication. As part of the PR programme, College Hill achieved coverage in target publications Drug Discovery World, Microscopy & Analysis and PharmaAsia as well as some Chinese language websites. They also secured a slide show of images on the NewScientist website.

GE Healthcare announced the winners of this year’s IN Cell Image Competition on the 8th January. Each of the three winners, from Asia, Europe and North America, will be rewarded with a trip to New York City in March where their images will be shown on NBC’s high-definition TV screen in Times Square. The 30 short-listed images can be viewed at http://www.gelifesciences.com/incellcompetition.
