Welcome
If you are UK-based you can't have missed the large amount of communications on Darwin timed around the 200-year anniversary of his birth in February. Later this year sees the 150th anniversary of the publication of his Origin of Species - the principles of "survival of the fittest" (a phrase actually coined by the philosopher Herbert Spencer, but later adopted by Darwin) can be applied not just to evolution and biological systems, but equally to business: indeed Spencer himself applied the Darwinian model to cultural and political thinking of the time.
So in today's "credit crunch" times, survival of the fittest must be on all of our minds: how do we, as business leaders, ensure that the enterprises we have so carefully nurtured during the times of plenty, survive and flourish. The key is understanding our competitive advantages in today's climate (not yesterday's), and promoting and investing in those advantages, whilst at the same time ensuring that we are mindful of the limited resources our business "ecosystem" now offers. A keen eye for cash preservation, but not at the expense of risking business starvation or strategy strangulation; strategic investment in innovation, value and service.
At College Hill our strategy has been to build a team of cross-discipline communications experts, a strategy we have invested in further with the opening of a US office, as well as the addition of a senior expert in healthcare communications. If you are taking a long hard look at the added value your communications consultancy is offering, we'd be delighted to have the opportunity to show you what College Hill Life Sciences can offer. Give me a call or drop me an email, we'd love to talk.
